Description: branding, family of logos, collateral and merchandise design for Dauntless Distributing
Dauntless is a Louisville, Kentucky based quality food and craft beer distributor run by a born and bred local guy whose fervor for his business is infectious. It’s that Singular Passion of his (which ended up becoming the company’s motto and tagline) that turned Zimmer-Design’s collective head in the direction of knowing instinctively we wanted to be a part of his growing empire. (Next on his horizon are repping spirits and festival events.)
At the project kick-off, we were given a creatively wide berth to explore Dauntless’s re-branding. So we focused our attention on pursuing an unexpected approach for this type of company–designing a family of logos that featured elegant classical serif typography and a clean, graphic mark.
The mark itself–the symbol for fire and water, the elements of creation–mirrors the directive we got “to get weird” with things.
And since a bold brand with a bold name begs for a bold palette, and we were drawn to a smoky, matte black paired with a molten, metallic gold. These elements were carried out in the accompanying letterpressed business cards and merchandise. That horizon line sure is looking shiny and bright for Dauntless.
